Passing Weverse / fan-club verification as an international fan
The membership purchase is the easy part. The verification step — phone, name match, address — is where international fans get silently stuck.
Buying the membership is the part everyone warns you about. The part that actually traps international fans is the verification — the quiet checks that happen after your card clears, where a name mismatch or a phone-number format can leave you holding a "member" badge that still can't enter the presale.
Here's the map of where it breaks and how to get through it clean.
The three checks that matter
- Phone verification. Some fan platforms expect a number that can receive an SMS code. International numbers usually work, but a few flows assume a Korean (+82) number. If the SMS never arrives, switch to the app-based verification path if one exists, or use a number you know receives international SMS reliably.
- Name match. Your membership name should match the name on the payment card and, later, the name on any name-locked ticket. Mismatches here are the leading cause of "you're a member but can't claim the presale ticket." Pick one romanization of your name and use it everywhere.
- Region / address. Some perks and shipping (physical membership kits) gate on address. A US address is fine; just keep it consistent with your payment card's billing address — the same discipline as the Wise card setup.
The order that avoids re-doing it
| Step | Do it when | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Pick one name romanization | Before signing up | Used by card, membership, ticket — must match |
| Verify phone/SMS | At signup | Blocks presale entry if skipped |
| Confirm region setting | At signup | Controls which presale you even see |
| Test login from a clean browser | Day before on-sale | Catches session/cookie surprises early |
The "I'm a member but can't enter the presale" problem
This is the most common message I get, and it's almost always one of three things:
- The membership lapsed — annual memberships expire, and the presale checks active status at the moment of the on-sale, not when you joined. The membership checklist tracks renewal windows.
- The region on the account doesn't match the presale you're trying to enter (e.g., trying to enter a Japan-region presale on a global account).
- A name/identity mismatch flagged the account for a manual check that never resolved in time.
Practical advice
Do all of this at least a week before any expected on-sale. Verification queues and manual reviews can take days, and there is no expediting them once a hot on-sale is live. The fans who breeze through presales are not luckier — they finished verification in the quiet period when nobody else was hammering the system.
For the broader timing of when these presales hit, see the ticket timeline. For reading which comebacks signal a tour (and therefore a presale) is coming, see HYBE tour signals.
